Accent on Art in August- August fun in Dunsmuir

• What is more fun than beating the heat in Dunsmuir? Brushing elbows with artists and cool people at the Siskiyou Artists Association 67^th Annual Members’ Show at Siskiyou Arts Museum 5824 Dunsmuir Ave Dunsmuir August 9-October 4, opening reception August 9 4-7pm.
• What makes this show special? Its SAA members draw from the entire county and represent Siskiyou’s regional differences and similarities. Exhibiting members are experts in their media, whether it is Acrylic, Drawing, Mixed Media, Oil, Pastel, Printmaking, Sculpture, or Water Media.
• Opening reception with light refreshments August 9, silent auction to benefit scholarship fund, Artist Critiquer Stephen Baumann and more than 50 artists will be there to mingle with visitors and art lovers

Scholarship Fundraiser The popular silent auction this year to raise money for their scholarship program will run from August 9, providing opportunities for art lovers to purchase an Artwork by one of their favorite local artists.

Stephan Baumann

“Don’t step into your studio unless you intend to change the world”

“Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, except bears. Bears will kill you.”

Stephan Baumann, the critique artist, will provide a critique for each piece in the show, and all artists will be provided with a copy of the critique for their work. On September 13 Baumann will critique all the paintings in person.

Stefan Baumann is an acclaimed landscape and wildlife artist who paints in oils on location and from his studio at the Grand View Ranch in Mount Shasta, California. He grew up in the beautiful forest of Lake Tahoe, California, and after high school, he studied art and architectural history for a year at Stanford University in 1980 and continued studying art and painting at the San Francisco Academy of Art University.  During this time, he began Baumann Fine Art, a business enterprise that promoted landscape painting. Stefan’s plein air paintings include amazing effects of light, shadow, color and the natural beauty that he sees in American wilderness landscapes, wildlife, and in the architectural styles of older houses and barns.  Through his work, viewers enjoy the opportunity to see spectacular places in America that are too remote and inaccessible for most to visit themselves.
