It was a spring cleaning day in McCloud as community members adorned in bright vests carried garbage bags and used pickers to collect rubbish from the streets and alleyways throughout the town on Saturday. The McCloud Garden Club, Chamber, and Resource Center, along with the local McCloud Girl Scouts chapter, and both the McCloud Elementary and High School collaborated on a community cleanup day with a barbecue and potluck afterwards as a fun way to help and get to know others in town.

About 50 people filled up two dumpsters in 2 to 3 hours.
“A lot of community members participated which made me feel proud of where I live,” said 16-year-old Aiden Brown. This is his first community cleanup experience.
Grocery Outlet in Weed donated the food for the barbecue while others made salads and cookies.
McCloud Garden Club member, John Butler said, “The town looks a heck of a lot better now. I just wish that people would put their trash in a garbage can. It is not that far to a trash can. We do have them around town on Main Street.”
Chamber member, Darlene Mathis said, “This is a great opportunity for people to come together and get to know each other in town.”
