Lobbying California officials topped half a billion dollars in 2024
In 2024, PacifiCorp spent a staggering $13.49 million lobbying California officials, 30 times its average over the past two decades, to push for rate hikes—contributing to skyrocketing power bills for Siskiyou County residents already struggling with costs from wildfire recovery and the Klamath River dam removal project.

Warren Buffett’s PacifiCorp continues its apparent lavish lobbying objective from 2016 onward, the needless closure of Diablo Canyon (nuclear) Power Plant (DCPP) near San Luis Obispo, California to increase the already large market for its mostly coal-fired power being exported into California. Since 2014, PacifiCorp has exported at wholesale about a billion dollars of coal-fired power to California. In PacifiCorp’s first quarter 2025 Form 535 lobbying disclosure, Warren finally admits he is pushing for CAISO grid regionalization via passage of California SB 540 (Becker, 0225,) which should be opposed.
