Rodney (Rod) Douglas Eastlick, 88-year-old long time Scott Valley resident, passed away Thursday morning, March 20, 2025, following a short illness. Rod was born June 5, 1936, in Yreka to George Douglas and Elma Juanita (Davis) Eastlick. His family originally moved to Scott Valley in the 1850s and he was a descendant of Alexander Eastlick who served in the Revolutionary War.

Rod married his childhood friend Joanne (Jody) Elizabeth Lindholm on August 6, 1955, in Reno, Nev. and the couple settled in Quartz Valley. Rod and Jodyโ€™s marriage was a very treasured blessing that Rod so missed following Jodyโ€™s death in 2015. Rod was a member of the Blue Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Fort Jones. He worked for many years in family-owned sawmills, in the woods, as a carpenter, as a cabinet maker and as a maintenance worker and woodworking teacher at the Quartz Valley Elementary School. Rod was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and loving husband who enjoyed watching Giants games, hunting bucks, stream fishing and raising his four sons, grandkids and great grandkids. Rod always had a smile for you and enjoyed visiting with just about everyone that he encountered, and he will be missed by many.
