On Saturday, March 8, 2025, the little town of Callahan, CA, came alive with a rally of 60 people protesting the action of the present US administration. It was a surprising display of concern considering the general understanding that Scott Valley is predominantly in favor of the Trump administration.
There was not one speaker, but the issues that were raised by signs and discussion were multiple. The general consensus of the crowd was that we, in a small rural community, are going to suffer greatly the actions of the Trump administration. There’s great anxiety over the brazen disregard for the US Constitution in the authorization of Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) taking over the role of Congress to authorize and deauthorize funding. Excessive and random cuts to federal employees are beginning to cause concern even among Republican legislators. What is going to be the effect on our firefighting success? Privatization of our federal lands and parks will lead to making these lands inaccessible to citizens, create excessive exploitation and environmental degradation.
Also, many brought up the issue of the vast cuts to the Veterans’ Administration. The veterans are not all that well served already. The treatment of Ukraine, deporting their immigrants and putting Ukrainians in more jeopardy by ceasing the US intelligence letting Ukrainians know about Russian attacks has already caused loss of life to Ukrainians. There is concern over the dissolution of the US’s support and relationship with allies of many generations, quitting NATO, quitting the international environmental alliances, cutting back of diplomats and the State Department and intelligence departments causing worldwide terrorism insecurity. These many issues and more were brought up in the group.
It was a very surprisingly good-sized turnout considering that notification went out only 24 hours previous to the event and that no social media was used. The event was a spontaneous reaction to the anxiety and concerns of these participants.

-oh please! We do not need protesters who are aginst president trump in our tiny valley! Or anyone who is insane enugh to think the biden administration was designed to do anything but damage america!
Anyone who is a democrate at this point is just a hater of america , and if people were to listion to what they are complaining about it is just more twisted lies about what is really happening, Trump is not aginst veterans or cutting social security! He is carving the fraudulent abuse. Of the system where millians of checks have been sent to people over 150 years old , probably on the voters lists also!
I find that every single time I turn around the democrate party is up to no good , taking advantage of their power and abusing americans ! The biden administration is the party of distroying everything good americans had , Trump is trying to fix the mass distruction biden created period! Democrates are insane and push policies that they know americans do not agree with such as sex changes on little children aginst the parents , an act that I compaire to the exspieraments hitlier performed on children during the helocost ! Hence they lable Trump hitlier to distract the leval of horror they are camitting on american children , not eexsplaining to them the distruction they are placing on their intire life , no children , being isolated because every man I have asked if they would date a woman who was born a man, and every one of them said no , this is nouthing less than mutalation and distruction of a child intire future, and government never had more power over the parents exsept for the illegal removal of native children now they are doing this again to everyone ….just bizzar! The suggestion that we should all be forced to eat bugs instead of beef! Electric car mandate , and I’m sure that a so many mile mandate would be closely following after where your car would just shut off after so many miles per month until your new allotment issued the next month! It is nouthing short of communism where the government wants ro control everything about your life ! This has been tried over and over again only to fail every time they are not asking us to give up our freedom they are stealing our freedom and I for one will let them shoot me before I let them control my life period!
Biden was the very worst of the worst, so Trump really does not have to do much to be better than joe , however I believe trump is a very good man who truly cares about america , if not they would have found real violations he committed, not made up lies ! I believe Trump realy cares for americas and is our only hope ,
And if nouthing else democrates had 4 stolden years to improve america , but they only distroyed everything they could , now their time is up and so is my patience with them , democrates dO NOUTHING but lie and distroy everything good about america on purpose ! Biden is a crimanal and a pedifile! Who sells our to the highest bidder who has done more distruction than any president in the history of our nation he should be arested for treason along with , polosi, clinton , obama and a.o.c. and their intire group!
It is such a load off and a breath of fresh air that Trump won and everything won’t be a bed of roses as he has a gient mess to clean up after these traders were let lose on our country , however he truly wants what is best for america and I believe he will do his best to reverse the horrible damage democrates inflicted onto our country , and a bucket of shit is better than biden and the crimanals who have stolden are tax dollars and shoved them right into their personal pockets! So I’m not happy about having a group of insane democrates disturbing our little town with their bull! And I’m sure most of them do not live here because in the last 5 years I have only met one person who voted democrate as most people here are selfless good people!
All I asked is next time a group of insane democrates want to disturb our little valley , they give more than 24 hours notice so the reasonable people who live here can also be there to voice their opinions! And politely ask them to leave! We don’t do crazy here ! So go some where else as I promiss you are not going to get very far here when the locals find out about it! I brlelieve you are not welcome here!
One more suggestion, I think all government employees including congress members should be mandated to were government issued uniforms that have very big letters accross the back identifying them as public servants! With government issued shoes, kind if like bowling shoes! To remind themb of who and what they are ! And that we the people are their bosses, not the other way around ! I believe they should put in a 40 hour work week punching a time clock as they cant be trusted to self report their hours , a two week vacation , and no expense account for any of them that alone would save up a ton of money and term limited! No more government bull shit we have to get real right now before our own government is allowed to distroy us forever! I also believe the demicrate party should be completly abolish at this time as traders should not be making laws for us !
First if all, Karen, you should learn how to spell and punctuate correctly. This post by Karen is a prime example that Trump supporters are stupid; maybe do a little research before opening you mouth, Karen. Doesn’t the Constitution allow for US citizens to protest, yes it does. Trump supporters are always talking about the First Amendment of free speech, but yet, you want to whine about this small group of citizens protesting. What a hypocrite. Karen, do you know the definition of the word “hypocrite?” Look it up, or maybe you should Google it, just like you should when researching Trump’s so- called truths. You know, like the one where he says multiple times, in multiple speeches he will bring prices down on groceries, or how he’s for the people. All lies! Look at the economy now, look at how stocks have dropped to a level never seen since the early 80’s. Slowly, thirty thousand employees of Social Security(SS) have been laid off, next, Medicaid/Medi-Cal/Medicare health-care will be nonexistent, and those paycheck payments all of us have paid into SS, will disappear. Open your eyes, read other sources of information, go directly to the .gov websites and read exactly what Trump’s executive orders entail. We all, blue and red are screwed.
It would be interesting to see where the protesters live.. there are very few who live in this town… they didn’t put up a notice cuz the citizens would have run them out of town
