Scott Valley, Short Stories

A True Story; Well, Almost

Dedicated to Willie Munson

Eb “the Mayor of Cheeseville” decided in December 2006 he wanted to write his Life Stories and this was one of them . . .

Che’usa

Up French Cr. to Proctors, the place to go.
To have a good time, the setting just so.

‘Twas New Year’s Eve, and the crowd was ready,
To dine and dance, to the music quite steady.

Willie’s a clever and talented young man.
He can mix your drinks with things on hand.

Out to the pool with glass in hand.
He scoops up some water, and a little sand.

There’s snow on the ground, and ice on the pool.
Made very good drinks, they were nice and cool.

The booze was good, the water was clear.
But oh that chlorine! It tastes like bad beer.

My teeth turned white, my throat turned raw.
The darndest drink, you never did saw.

Willie was proud, with a smile on his face.
“Drink up boys, this’ll improve your taste.”

We’ll have one more, then back to the dance.
To try some new steps, so’s we can prance.

The girls will admire us, from across the hall.
Stand clear everyone, we’re havin’ a ball.

My vision turned blurry, my steps not too neat.
I’ll find me a chair, and rest my feet.

As soon as I can, I’ll dance some more.
Oh, help me please Willie, I can’t find the floor.

Now Willie is a good old boy.
He mixes drinks for all to enjoy.

But I warn you all now, be sure to beware.
For if you drink this stuff, it’ll curl your hair!
