the Obituary of Kristina “Tia” Marie Johannsen

Kristina “Tia” Marie Johannsen
28 Dec 1979 – 15 Nov 2024

Lifelong Siskiyou County resident Kristina Marie “Tia” Johannsen passed away comfortably on November 15, 2024 with her family by her side. She was 44 years old.

Tia was born on December 28, 1979 in Yreka to the late Gene Griffith and Debra Cook. She was the youngest of three children. Two of her siblings preceded her in death: her brother Robert, sister Tracy and her late husband Glen Calonico. Tia worked in healthcare administration and loved her job and coworkers. Tia’s most important love in her life was her three boys: Brandon Wessel, Bryan Wessel and Gauge Calonico. She enjoyed spending time with her boys and her family. She also enjoyed camping and the holidays. Her favorite part was getting together with all her cousins and families. Tia loved spending time with family and friends, and was always smiling.

Her late sister Tracy was her security comfort. Knowing she would always be there for her no matter the situation.

Tia was a loving and caring person, mom, daughter, cousin and friend: always thinking of others and always working hard to provide for her boys. She was a dedicated employee and hard worker.

Tia leaves behind her children, Brandon Wessel, Byron Wessel, and Gauge Calonico (Buff), many cousins, her brother Hans (Jake) Johannsen, and last but not least, her mom Debra, whom she will always love.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Girdner Funeral Chapel in Yreka, followed by inurnment at Evergreen Cemetery. A potluck style reception will follow.
