November 12, 1944 – October 17, 2024
Nancy Mathews Dodson, 79, of Sacramento, CA, passed away on October 17th 2024 after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Nancy was born on November 12th 1944 to William and Florence Mathews in Yreka, CA. After Nancy graduated from Etna Union High School in 1962, she went on to study nursing at Kaiser Nursing school in Oakland, CA.
Nancy is survived by her 2 sisters Susan Hanlon and Ruthie Spires, her 2 sons and 7 grandchildren Mark(Sarah)Cooper, Lola, Heath and Brian(Michele)Elijah, Thaddeus, Providence, Abby and 5 nieces.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother Doug Mathews and her nephew Steve Mathews.
Nancy was a dedicated nurse(RN) for over 50 years and cared for and loved her patients going above and beyond for someone in need. She was also a paramedic for the Etna volunteer fire department.
A memorial service will be held at the Scott Valley Berean Church on December 7th, 2024.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Your mom was an amazing woman with a great sense of humor. She loved the both of you like a Mama-Bear should: Unconditionally and with a vengeance!
I remember her fierce dedication to her nursing career and patients.
