Beatrice Ann “Bea” Bolar, a longtime Siskiyou County resident, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2024 at Fairchild Medical Center. She was 97 years old.
Bea was born on February 9, 1927 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Edward and Theresa (Grable) Wolf. Bea married Howard Clyde Bolar, and the couple had four children. Bea worked as a machine operator manufacturing airport parts, but her real work was as a wife and mother. Bea has been a Yreka resident since 1991.
Bea loved shopping, watching television, growing tomatoes, ocean fishing and traveling. After becoming a grandparent, she loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren over for sleepovers. She enjoyed lilacs and pink carnations, reading about Amish history, and spending time with her family. Perhaps that for which Bea will be most remembered is her Christmas cookies! Every holiday season, her counter space would be filled with goodies for the holidays – her specialty being fudge and sugar cookies. She would package the sweets up in tins and deliver them to family, friends, and neighbors for them to enjoy.
Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents; her siblings, Robert and Lorraine; and by two children, Cindy Woodmancy and Lynn Rettie.
Bea is survived by two children, Carla Schneider of Yreka and Patty Walker of Illinois; nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At this time, no services are scheduled for Bea.
