the Obituary of Gloria June La Mothe

Gloria June La Mothe, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2024 in Yreka, California at the age of 92. Born on May 10, 1932 in Redford, Michigan, Gloria lived a life marked by compassion, dedication, and love.

Gloria was a passionate advocate for animal welfare and was the proud co-founder (along with Barbara Villarreal) of PURR-ANGELS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to spaying, neutering, and vaccinating feral and homeless felines. Her tireless efforts made a significant impact on the lives of countless animals and improved the community she so dearly cared for. In 2018 she was awarded the ‘Yreka Citizen of the Year’ for her work with PURR-ANGELS!

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Lynn Hargis; her grandchildren, Misty Partello and Jonathan Chandler; and her great-grandchildren Chandler Partello, Collin Partello, and Julian Chandler. She is also survived by her closest friends, Barbara Villarreal, Pat Hamilton, Denise Patterson, Maggie Harris and Jan Sinnott, all from her PURR-ANGELS family, plus many more whose lives she touched through her love of cats and spay/neuter. Gloria’s legacy of kindness and her devotion to both her family and her cause will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.

A celebratory gathering will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Lower Greenhorn Park at 3pm. All are invited to bring a finger food dish, share stories, and bring photos to add to an album for her daughter, Lynn. Please contact Jan for more information at 530-905-3646 or email [email protected]
