It has been a busy two months since Chris Christofferson assumed his role as the new Forest Supervisor with the Klamath National Forest in northern California.
Christofferson is a northern California native who has spent 22 years with the U.S. Forest Service. As Forest Supervisor, Christofferson oversees all land management and administration for the 1.7-million-acre Klamath National Forest. He comes with over four years of experience as a Forest Supervisor. He served as Acting Forest Supervisor on the Lassen National Forest in 2019 and was the Forest Supervisor on the Modoc National Forest from 2020-2024.
“I enjoy working with partners to develop projects designed to restore and enhance the land we manage and cherish,” Forest Supervisor Christofferson said. “I look forward to connecting with Tribal Leaders, County Supervisors, State and Federal partners, and the host of others who share a common interest in managing our unique part of Northern California we call the Klamath National Forest!”
Christofferson started his USDA Forest Service career in 2002 as a Plant Ecologist with the Plumas National Forest. From there he spent the next 12 years in multiple positions on the Plumas National Forest, such as District Botanist, Storrie Fire Restoration Team Leader, and Ecosystem Manager. In 2014, he moved to the Modoc National Forest where he spent 6 years as the West Zone District Ranger.
