Wayneen C. Olson, a beloved member of the Klamath River community, passed away on the afternoon of July 31, 2024, just one day shy of her 81st birthday.

Born on August 1, 1943, in Napa, California, to Wayne and Ruth (Agnes) Williams, Wayneen graduated from Napa High School. On December 3, 1961, she married Ron Olson, and together they raised two sons. Wayneen had a diverse career, working at a bank, a placement agency, Napa Valley Unified School District Transportation, Evans Transportation, and running her own bookkeeping service. She also engaged in various home sales ventures, such as Avon and home decor.

In 1985, Wayneen and Ron purchased Quigley’s Store and RV park in Klamath River, Siskiyou County, where Wayneen played a vital role in the daily operations, bookkeeping, and baking delicious cakes and pies for the deli. She was an active volunteer, contributing to the Klamath River Community Hall and fundraising for the Klamath River Volunteer Fire Department. After 25 years, they sold the store, deli, and RV park to retire to their dream home on Lockhaven, overlooking the Klamath River. Ten years after Ron’s passing, Wayneen moved to Yreka.

Wayneen is survived by her two sons, Glen and Matthew, and their wives, Debbie and Shaunna; six grandchildren, Taylor, Lindsey, Alicia, Amanda, Haley, and Ryan; their spouses, Victor, Wyatt, Brandon, and Andrew; and three great-grandchildren, Amelia, Phoebe, and Jenson. She is also survived by her brother Arlan, his wife Karen, and their family.

Both Wayneen and Ron were dedicated supporters of the Klamath River Community Hall, which was tragically destroyed by the McKinney fire in July 2022. In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests memorial contributions to the GoFundMe campaign “REBUILD the Klamath River Community Hall” or to the Yreka Elks Lodge No. 1980.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, with a celebration of life to follow at the Yreka Elks Lodge, 332 W. Miner St.

You and Ron were such a big part of my childhood. I really loved you both like family. I’m heartbroken because I didn’t get to visit with you like we planned. I was too late.
I know you are happy to be with Ron again. Rest in Peace Wayneen. I love you and will miss you always.
