Siskiyou County Artists Show their Works

It was an extordinary evening as Siskiyou Arts Museum (SAM) held a reception for Siskiyou Artists Association’s (SAA)  66th Annual Member’s Art Show on Saturday, August 10th. A wide variety of styles, techniques, and mastery of mostly paintings lined the walls in the front gallery at SAM. Not having a theme for this show, the vast collection of amazing, beautiful, and unique works from 28 different Siskiyou Artists Association members which also included 3-dimensional, wood work, ceramics and other mix media sculptures drew many not only from the art community, but also those who have an appreciation for original artwork and to see the talent and talk to the artists as well.

Chosen as the Curtique Artist for 2024, Carol Jenkins, who retired from her psychotherapy practice to become a full-time artist, maintains a studio in the Bay Area as well as in Mt. Shasta.

Each artist will receive a copy of her critique for their work.

There are no awards presented in this show.

There was a silent auction consisting of a collection of art from 16 different artists all starting at $25. The proceeds will help support SAA’s scholarship fund.  This year’s $1,000 scholarship recipient is SAA member, 20-year-old Linnea Dolf, who will be attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Not only did Linnea have one of her watercolor paintings on display at this exhibit, she also held a vocal performance during the reception which froze all those who attended to stop, watch, and listen to her talented recital.

A Mt.Shasta High School graduate, Linnea has attended COS taking painting and ceramic classes. She has already started her first semester at Berklee College of Music and will obtain her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance and songwriting.

This exhibit will be on display through October 5th. Siskiyou Arts Museum Gallery and Gift Shop is located at 5824 Dunsmuir Avenue in Dunsmuir.  SAM’s goal is to purchase this building that they have resided in for the past ten years.

I am impressed that the show has such a variation of subject matter, mediums, and skills. It is good to see new members here. I work at Liberty Arts Gallery in Yreka, so this occasion brings artists from throughout the county to come together to share their work and visit.
