Yreka, Calif., July 10, 2024— The Klamath National Forest has expanded the footprint of the closure area for the Shelly Fire.
To provide for public safety, the following acts are prohibited within the Salmon Scott Ranger District of the Klamath National Forest.
- Going into or being upon any National Forest System lands within the Shelly Fire Closure Area.
- Being on any National Forest System trails within the Shelly Fire Closure Area.
- Being on any National Forest System roads within the Shelly Fire Closure Area.
- Entering or using any Developed Recreation Sites within the Shelly Fire Closure Area.
Campgrounds Closed: Idlewild, Mule Bridge, and Nordheimer
Trailheads Closed: Kidder Creek, Shelly Fork, Shackeford, Mule Bridge, Little North Fork, Cow Ridge, and Etna Mill

Forest officials want to remind visitors that forest fire restrictions are in effect. Campfires and stove fires are restricted to those developed areas listed in the forest order located at https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/klamath/alerts-notices/?aid=88596. Smoking, welding, and operating an internal combustion engine also have restrictions in place.
