Multiple Siskiyou County Wildfires Removed from California’s State of Emergency List

In a recent proclamation, California Governor Gavin Newsom has officially terminated the state of emergency status for several wildfires that impacted Siskiyou County over the past few years. This move signals a significant step towards recovery and normalcy for the affected regions.

The proclamation, dated July 1, 2024, lists multiple fire events in Siskiyou County that no longer require emergency status. These include:

  1. The Mill Fire, which began on September 2, 2022
  2. The McKinney, China 2, and Evans Fires, which started on July 30, 2022
  3. The River, French, Washington, Windy, KNP Complex, and Hopkins Fires from October 22, 2021
  4. The River and Antelope Fires from August 5, 2021
  5. The Lava Fire, which was part of a complex including the Beckwourth Fire, declared on July 16, 2021
  6. The Slater Fire and other Siskiyou fires from September 10, 2020

This termination of emergency status indicates that the state government believes the immediate threats posed by these fires have passed, and recovery efforts have progressed sufficiently. It also means that any executive orders related to these specific emergencies are no longer in effect.
