Siskiyou Arts Museum Presents ‘NEXT’

Siskiyou Arts Museum (aka SAM) held their Second Saturday’s opening reception for NEXT. An art exhibit by three artists; Eloise Larson, Cathy Valentine, and Jennifer Pentrack. The show will be on display from June 8th till August 3rd.

These three artists are all familiar with each other as they have been involved in the art community in Siskiyou County for many years.

Eloise Larson was sure that she was going to be an artist at 16 years of age. By the time she was 20, she was a serious painter. She says that she loves to paint on extra large canvases now that she is retired and has the time now. She keeps working in layers until she feels it is complete. The picture she painted is of her as a teenager about 50 years ago.
Cathy Valentine is a self taught artist. She came to Siskiyou County after high school.  She loves textiles. The work she has on exhibit is made of encaustic beeswax and resin, ink, graphite cast and handmade paper, threads and dialysis bags. She builds up a layer at a time and heats it in between to create the different textures.
Jennifer Pentrack came back to Siskiyou County just for this show after moving to Montana. Her daughter is a horse trainer and she captured their movements in acrylics. She also does woodcut and monotype.

Siskiyou Arts Museum is located at 5824 Dunsmuir Ave. in Dunsmuir.
