The Great Shasta Rails Trail Race

The first annual Great Shasta Rails Trail Race was held on Saturday, July 15th which happened to be the hottest day of the year.

Megan Hirschi from Utah took 1st place in the 30k of the Great Shasta Rail Trail Race

Race director Jenifer Rishel holds up race shirt given to every race participant standing with 30k racer JessicaHernandez from Klamath Falls.

About 50 runners participated for one of the three courses:

a 50K, 30K, and 10K with only one participant not completing the course (of the 50K) due to the heat.

Benefits of the race goes towards the Great Shasta Rail Trail which is a multi-use 80 mile trail between McCloud and Burney. Established in 2009 by a non-profit core team, it was originally the McCloud River Railroad rail bed.
