McCloud Fire Department Fire Training Day

McCloud Fire Department (MFD) held a curriculum from Cal State Fire Training through the College of the Siskiyous at their fire hall on  Friday, April 21st.

This 12-hour mandatory class called Fire Control 4 or Ignitable Liquid Gasses is for all firefighters through Siskiyou County Fire Warden who funded this advanced-level class.

Mike Worthington instructs firefighters on hose handling on an ignited propane tank.

MCFD Cheif Charlie Miller, Shastina Fire Chief Steve Pappas, Don Lacy from Shasta College, and Mike Worthington who has 26 years of experience worked together in this stand-alone class. There are few instructors able to teach in this area of the north state so assisting together they can then teach this course on their own.

MFD Chief Charlie Miller directs firefighters during the hands-on training.

The course was held in McCloud at Fire Hall17 so they can stay in service while teaching how to fight fires fueled by propane, diesel, or gas with proper hose handling.

McCloud Fire Department is always recruiting. Though the department has a volunteer program, the department pays for the training.  For more information, or if interested in becoming a volunteer, contact Recruitment/Retention Coordinator Sean Prouty at (530) 925-0371
