A beautiful blue-eyed baby girl was born to Katherine Barbieri Fruzza and Jimmie Fruzza on July 17, 1940. Fittingly, her name was Nancy Joy. She was a lifelong resident of Weed, California, attending Weed Elementary and Weed High School before acceptance to UC Berkeley with honors in 1958 where she was a biochemistry major.
