Summer String Summit at the Avery Theatre. It was a great performance and thought it deserved my praise

My wife and I enjoyed an evening at the Avery Sunday. We watched and listened to the Summer String Summit, that included a mix of instruments and talent. Some bluegrass, a little jazz, some original songs. The musicianship was amazing, from Tristan Clarridge on cello (I think that was a cello he was playing) and his sister, Tashina on fiddle, and a host of others playing guitar, upright bass, hammered dulcimer and a few vocals. I didn’t know what I was in for when I walked in the door of the Avery, but let it be said, the artists exceeded my expectations. 

I’ve lived in Siskiyou County for 4 years now, and for some reason I had never heard of the Summer String Summit. My wife picked up the tickets and let me know we were going, and she said she thought it would be something I would enjoy. She was right. Sunday’s show was the 17^th annual performance. Where was I the other 16 shows? 

I had to look online to learn a little about their camp, co-founded by Tristan and Tashina. It attracts a variety of musicians, and includes young musicians willing to grow. During the show, it was explained that some of their “students’ will perform between sets. They were the “tweeners.” It was great to see a young generation learning and growing and getting a chance to perform in front of a live audience. This group created a great vibe, which I am glad I had a chance to experience, and thankful my wife making the decision to buy the tickets. I hope there is an 18^th annual summit and I know two people who will be there.
