Be among the very first Trainers to experience Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution - Pitch Black before the official release! Purple Dragon Games is proud to host an Official Play! Pokémon Prerelease, giving players an early opportunity to open the newest cards, build brand-new decks, and discover the strategies that will shape the next era of Pokémon.
If you've never attended a Pokémon Prerelease before, this is one of the most exciting and beginner-friendly events of the year. Every player receives a Prerelease Build & Battle Box containing a ready-to-play 40-card deck built around one of several featured promo Pokémon, four additional booster packs from the new Pitch Black expansion, and everything you need to customize your deck for the event. You'll use the cards you open to improve your deck before jumping into friendly matches against other Trainers. Since everyone builds from the same limited card pool, every game is filled with surprises, clever plays, and exciting discoveries.
After deck construction, players will compete in a series of relaxed Swiss rounds, ensuring everyone gets multiple games regardless of their record. Whether you win every match or are learning the game for the very first time, you'll continue playing throughout the event while meeting other Pokémon fans and exploring the newest mechanics together. Our staff is always happy to answer questions, explain the rules, and help new Trainers feel right at home.
As an Official Play! Pokémon Retailer and Approved Prerelease Location, all eligible matches can be reported through your Pokémon Trainer Club Player ID, helping you become part of the official Play! Pokémon community. If you don't already have a Player ID, we'll gladly help you get one before the event begins.
Every match is another opportunity to earn rewards! For each Best 2 out of 3 match you win, you'll receive a $5 Purple Dragon Games Dragon Coin, redeemable as store credit toward Pokémon products, board games, accessories, snacks, and much more. It's our way of celebrating great games while helping you grow your collection.
We'll also be serving FREE pizza for all registered players during the event, because every Trainer battles better with a full Energy bar.
