YREKA โ The Karuk Tribe’s Kahtรญshraam Wellness Center is looking to hire four cultural practitioners for its Summer Enrichment Program, which serves youth entering first through eighth grade. The Tribe is seeking instructors grounded in Karuk culture, traditional regalia, cultural practices and the Karuk language who can share those skills and stories with young people in a positive way. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026.
Run by the Karuk Tribe Housing Authority and funded through the Karuk 477 program, the summer program is designed to help youth build confidence, learn new skills and strengthen their cultural identity in a safe setting that blends education, wellness and traditional activities.
Schedule and Pay
The program runs Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., from July 6 through July 30, 2026. Instructors can teach a single day or as many as all 20, depending on their schedule and expertise. Pay is $200 per session, issued at the end of the program once all required paperwork is turned in.
What Instructors Do
Practitioners plan and independently lead sessions for rotating groups of youth, centered on healthy living, cultural learning and community involvement. They gather and prepare their own materials before each session, keep the space safe and respectful, arrive on time, work well with staff, help youth take part, and track daily attendance.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit a resume or written statement highlighting their work experience, cultural knowledge and past work with youth; a short description of the cultural activities or workshops they want to teach, with examples of past experience; a note on how many days they are available; and three professional or community references with names and phone numbers.

Preference and Fees
The RFQ is open to all qualified, responsive bidders, with Indian Preference applied in the selection process under the Karuk Tribe’s Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance (TERO). Contracts exceeding $2,500 are subject to a 2 percent Tribal Employment Rights Fee under the TERO Ordinance. A background check covering employment history, references and criminal history may be conducted.
