Valentine

February fourteenth is Valentine’s Day,
A day when lovers think of clever things to say.
Then you take your phrase, riddle, or rhyme,
And send it to your love in a Valentine.
But on this most auspicious day,
I have no Valentine to give away.
I can only hope you understand,
Words of endearment don’t come easily to this man.
So, all the important things that I have to say
Will only come out in the simplest way.
I love you.
