The Moon was New on Sunday, the 18th at just after noon (on the west coast). The Capricorn New Moon is the first New Moon of 2026 and offers a powerful time to set new intentions, sculpt new beginnings and go within to take inventory and contemplate how you are doing in this crazy world. The Moon is aligned with four other planets (Mars, Venus, Mercury and Jupiter) as well as the Sun. You may be feeling more energetic swings than usual โ though nothing is usual these good ole days.
Yes, the world is feeling wildly crazy these days. Itโs easy to feel a bit crazy personally too. Are you spinning with uncertainty and worry? What are you worried about. Is there anything you can do about it? That is the question.
What can one person do to change the world? How does it feel to be consumed by worry, frustration and a spinning mind? Could it be that the only part of the world we have any influence over is our individual choices and that those choices CAN be based on how we would like to feel in the world of our dreams?
So, what can be done by you individually to change the world? Iโve found a way of dealing with the spin that Iโd like to share. When I find myself spinning with worry and frustration, I pause, take a breath and go within. Using my senses, not my head, I stop, look and listen. I allow whatever is happening to be as it is. It starts out with finding myself in a maelstrom of chaotic mental spin. YUK! BUT I donโt engage thoughts, I donโt judge, I donโt resist. I just watch, feel and allow. At this point after nearly four years of using this approach, I find that there is a wise woman within me. I am becoming my own best mother.
As an aside, it turns out some of the biggest Psych researchers are beginning to give credence to the idea that mental illness is a result of early childhood conditioning. We all live what we learn. And most of it happens in the first seven years. The tape loops of โshouldsโ and โshould notsโ get laid down and then we think we are those thoughts; โIโm not good enough, pretty enough, smart enoughโฆโ Somatic approaches to mental health are gaining ground.
Hereโs an amazing fact; children are born with around 100 billion brain cells. By age three they have 1,000 trillion brain cells. This is what makes them sponges of experience. By age seven kids begin to slough off brain cells. By adulthood we have around 86 billion brain cells.
Developing this approach to my inner demons has changed the way I deal with others as well. By learning to give myself the benefit of the doubt, I now see others as they are and allow them to be as they are, short of treading on me. This often clears the air beforehand and offers an opportunity to communicate as fellows instead of potential enemies. If they kick and scream, I can just observe without taking any of it personally.
Apart from this new habit of being kind to myself, I want to stress the importance of taking good care of the body. The list is short and simple, drink enough water, eat whole, non-processed foods, get your hands in the soil or bare feet on the Earth at least daily, sleep well, move your body every day and spend little bits of time being quiet throughout the day.
We live in an energetic Universe. Frequency is everything. What resonates with you? What is discordant? Which will you choose? By working to create the world of our dreams we can affect the entire world, to quote Joseph Campbell, โone vital life vitalizes!โ

The present world systems are not sustainable. Their feedback loops do not engender cohesiveness nor true success. As we enter the Age of Aquarius, its qualities of equinimity, mutual respect, collaboration, reciprocity, and cohesive, decentralized communities symbolize the qualities of a system that is coherent and can thrive.
So, watch where you put your attention. I, for one, can only read headlines anymore and sometimes not even that. Iโm not saying to ignore whatโs going on, but when it starts to stir discomfort within, itโs time to take a breath, change course and inoculate the field with Joy. Good vibrations are powerful.
In the meantime, remember, time spent in Nature, near a creek or walking in the woods, helps you feel lighter and makes the world look brighter.
