There’s no greater joy than the gift of giving, and Siskiyou County proved that once again on Giving Tuesday. Through the North State Giving Tuesday (NSGT) initiative, organized by the Community Foundation of the North State, residents across Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Modoc, and Trinity counties came together to support local nonprofits. With the event wrapping up on December 2, 2025, preliminary leaderboards reveal strong participation in Siskiyou County, focusing on causes like environmental protection, animal welfare, and community services.
Based on the latest snapshots from the NSGT website, Siskiyou County’s top performers include the Siskiyou Land Trust leading with $70,023 from 179 donors, followed by the Siskiyou Humane Society at $60,168 from 241 donors, and the Mt. Shasta Museum Association Inc. with $59,649 from 136 donors. Other standout organizations encompass Rescue Ranch ($36,691 from 182 donors), Boys & Girls Club of Greater Shasta ($35,300 from 59 donors), Mount Shasta Trail Association ($32,412 from 111 donors), Siskiyou Food Assistance ($22,288 from 96 donors), Friends of the Mount Shasta Avalanche Center ($19,857 from 87 donors), Siskiyou Opportunity Center ($18,294 from 81 donors), Stable Hands ($13,725 from 79 donors), Mount Shasta Bioregional Ecology Center ($13,463 from 83 donors), Rotary Club of Mount Shasta Foundation ($11,000 from 55 donors), Siskiyou Domestic Violence & Crisis Center ($9,277 from 59 donors), Great Northern Services ($9,176 from 61 donors), and Bigfoot Trail Alliance ($8,230 from 46 donors). These top 15 organizations alone have raised a combined $419,553, with potential for more as additional groups and final donations are tallied.

This year’s efforts build on a strong foundation. In 2024, NSGT raised a record $1.6 million across the participating counties, with over 210 nonprofits involved. While specific county-level breakdowns for 2024 are not readily available in current public sources, the overall surgeโfrom around $1.1 million in 2020 across three counties to the 2024 highโsuggests Siskiyou’s contributions have played a key role in this upward trend. Themes of support in past years, including environmental conservation, cultural preservation, social services, animal welfare, and youth programs, echo strongly in 2025’s results.
NSGT’s prizesโtotaling over $100,000โrecognized outstanding efforts. Notably, the 100% Board Giving Prize awarded $1,000 each to five organizations where every board member donated personally. Among the winners was the SisQ Bee Club, celebrated for its commitment to beekeeping education and pollinator health in Siskiyou County. The other recipients included Cascade Theatre, Shasta Scout, North State Cancer League, and Cottonwood Community Park.
In the Gold Star Club Prize, sponsored by Columbia Bank, the Siskiyou Economic Development Council was one of three winners, each receiving $500 for submitting complete and accurate application materials.
As final results are compiled by the Community Foundation of the North State, Siskiyou County’s story of giving underscores a resilient community spirit. Whether through powerhouse fundraisers or inspiring awards like the one to the SisQ Bee Club, Giving Tuesday fosters a lasting impact.
