FORT JONES, CALIF. – The Northern California Resource Center (NCRC) proudly announces its 30th anniversary in 2025, marking three decades of dedicated service to Siskiyou County’s land management, economy, and cultural vitality. Founded in 1995 by Scott Valley native, biologist and musician Larry Alexander, NCRC was established to support the community in managing its natural resources in a professional manner. The organization has since evolved into a multifaceted force, not only training and employing a local workforce in watershed health and restoration but also becoming a cornerstone for community development and artistic expression.
From its original location on Rattlesnake Creek Road, NCRC’s growth reflects its expanding mission. The organization’s legacy of building essential community institutions includes founding and administering numerous local Fire Safe Councils, biomass utilization groups, and the Siskiyou County Film Commission. This foundational work paved the way for its current headquarters in Fort Jones: the Resource & Event Center (The REC). This facility stands as a testament to NCRC’s enduring commitment, serving as both an operational base and a vital hub for community gatherings and events.
