Did you know that Siskiyou County Libraries offer free online movies and DVD’s to take home to watch?
There are a couple ways to watch movies in your own home. One way is through the library system. There are 12 different branches in Siskiyou County so if one branch doesn’t carry the movie you are looking for, another one most likely will since there are thousands of titles.
Another way is streaming videos through a website called Kanopy. A smartphone, tablet, computer, or TV with streaming capabilities is needed along with your library card.
There is a third way that is particular to the McCloud branch: They have an honor system for people visiting or those who do not have a library card. The McCloud Library has a back room full of books and DVDs that have been donated and people can come and “barrow” them. The McCloud Branch also accepts DVD donations.
There are other programs that the libraries offer that a lot of people are unaware of. There is the Read to Win Program that the Siskiyou Golden Fair is hosting through the libraries. Qualifying participants will receive 5 ride tickets for the carnival (Fair admission is not included). Other programs include the Dolly Parton First-5 Program, Summer Reading where each 5 books read is rewarded with a free ice cream and other prizes. McCloud Library has Tuesdays crafts, story-telling, and games for grammar school-age children.
Check your local library for what they offer.
