Marble Complex: 671 acres – 25% containment
Total Personnel: 495
Jacket Fire: 46 acres – 96% containment
Summit Fire: 625 acres – 28% containment
Current Situation: Firefighters continue steadfast work across the Marble Complex as hot, dry conditions take hold. While the Summit Fire remains the primary focus, showing steady growth along its southern edge, the Jacket Fire stays quiet under patrol. With an extreme heat warning now in effect and thunderstorms possible by Sunday, crews remain ready for changing fire behavior and shifting conditions.
Summit Fire: The Summit Fire has continued to steadily grow, but the sustained work along the north, east, and west sides have resulted in stronger control lines and additional sections now considered contained. The southern portion of the fire remains the primary area of concern, where the greatest potential for growth exists and most firefighting resources are focused. On Saturday, hot and dry conditions paired with the fire’s movement into thicker vegetation are expected to increase fire behavior and smoke production. Crews remain committed to building direct control line there, where conditions allow.
Jacket Fire: The Jacket Fire remains in patrol status, with firefighters continuing to monitor the area both on foot and through the use of infrared cameras mounted on helicopters to detect any remaining heat. On Friday, only minimal hot spots were identified, a positive sign of reduced threat to containment lines. Crews will maintain this focused patrol on Saturday, ensuring the perimeter stays secure while also remaining ready to respond quickly should any new fires emerge in the area.
Weather: Saturday marks the start of an extreme heat warning across the Marble Complex, bringing higher temperatures and lower humidity that are expected to drive more active fire behavior. Crews will face hot, dry conditions throughout the day, especially in higher elevations. Looking ahead, the next shift in weather is expected Sunday, when the chance of thunderstorms returns to the forecast.
Forest Closures & Restrictions: An Area Closure Order is currently in effect due to the Summit Fire. Residents and visitors are asked to avoid these areas and remain vigilant of changing fire conditions.
Evacuations: A combination of Evacuation Warnings and Orders are in place for both the Summit and Jacket Fire. Visit Office of Emergency Services (Disaster Management) | Siskiyou County California
