A Tailgate Thank You: Montague’s Perfect 4th of July

Last night, I sat on the tailgate of our truck with my husband, kiddo and friends, cozy in beach chairs with a blanket, watching the beautiful sunset followed by the night sky fireworks lighting up. We had rented one of the tailgate party spots (thank you to the city for offering that!) and had the best time surrounded by the glow of the carnival lights, beats from a live DJ, the chatter of happy families lighting their own fireworks. And a FREE 20 min firework show. The fireworks were so close you could feel every pow in your chest.

Right here in such a super small town, a place that has faced its fair share of economic struggles…volunteers, fundraisers, and generous community members pulled together something really special. A full day of 4th of July fun! A parade, a sweet little carnival for our kids and teens, food vendors, and a professional fireworks show that made a lot of eyes light up with joy.

It didn’t cost a dime to witness. There were no crowds to fight. No long drives. Just a beautiful, safe, family-friendly, affordable 4th of July celebration right here at home.

Thank you to those who planned, donated, fundraised, volunteered, and believed in giving our community a reason to come together and celebrate. You gave Montague a gift. And from this grateful tailgate seat, it was perfect.
