Illegal Debris Burn Leads to Wildfire and Arrest

Yreka, Ca- On June 20, 2025, at approximately 2:30 P.M., a CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officer sponded to a vegetation fire near Raven Ct in Hornbrook, CA. Following an investigation, it was determined that the cause of the fire was due to unlawful burning of illegal material in a burn barrel on land that that the subject did not own. The fire burned onto multiple other properties. A 59-year-old male suspect was arrested and transported to Siskiyou County Jail, where he was booked on the following charges:

  • CALIFORNIA PENALCODE: 452(b) – Felony
  • CALIFORNIA PENAL CODE:452 (c) – Felony
  • PUBLIC RESOURCE CODE: 4421 – Misdemeanor
  • PUBLIC RESOURCE CODE: 4423.5 – Misdemeanor
