Missing Child Recovered From Klamath River

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened to report that the 5 year-old boy who was reported missing in the Klamath River on Thursday, May 1st, has been located deceased by searchers.

After a nonstop search effort by local authorities, the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team, the Karuk Tribe, local firefighters, and community volunteers, the boy was located and recovered in the Klamath River approximately 4.6 miles downriver from where he was reported to have entered the water at Sluice Box river access. The boy was recovered from the water approximately 1/3 of a mile south of Seattle Creek river access. Investigators estimated the speed of the water at approximately 20 mph.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office expresses its deepest sympathies to the boy’s family and loved ones. The impact of this loss is felt by all those who participated in the search, and we join those grieving this unimaginable tragedy.
