Nothing is Boring in Siskiyou: this here tail is just that, a little light reading while you pass the time. Names, places and maybe even the charges have been changed to protect the accused.
The Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office experienced what locals call a “full moon frenzy” this week, despite the actual moon being firmly in its first quarter.
“Buckles” McThompson, 46, of “Somewhere that ain’t here,” was arrested after attempting to convince the Grocery Outlet manager that the twenty packages of beef jerky in his pants were “just happy to see you.” Deputy “No Nonsense” Nancy found three outstanding warrants and a ferret in his coat pocket.
Meanwhile, on Sasquatch Lane, “Disco” Dan Dimwit, 33, managed to get his Subaru stuck atop a six-foot snow berm. When questioned how this physics-defying feat occurred, he explained he was “following GPS instructions very precisely.” He blew a 0.18 on the breathalyzer, which explained everything except the chicken in his glove compartment.
The real highlight came when “Moonbeam” Marley, 28, was arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into the jail inside a hollowed-out Bible. Sheriff Wilkins commented, “At least they’re getting religious,” before discovering the Bible was actually a cake decorated to look like scripture.
The Mount Shasta Motel’s bathtub became temporarily unavailable after “Twitch” McGillicuddy filled it with Jell-O and goldfish in what he described as “performance art.” The motel owner described it as “what the actual hell?”
Over in Weed, “Sparky” Johansen claimed innocence after his marijuana grow operation caught fire. “It was spontaneous combustion! These plants were just too fire, man!” His court-appointed attorney already has a headache.
The capper came when “Slippery” Pete and his accomplice “Wobbly” Wayne attempted to steal a tractor by disguising themselves as scarecrows. The plan unraveled when Pete sneezed and scattered his hay stuffing, causing the farmer’s dog to chase him three counties over.
Sheriff Wilkins summed up the week: “Just another day in paradise, if paradise had a drug problem and poor decision-making skills.”
