Richard Lee Peters , of Grenada, passed away at the age of 78 on March 28th 2025.
Richard was born June 25 1946 in Yreka to Walter F. Peters and Shirley Ruth Peters. Richard graduated Yreka High School in 1965, and he went on to attend the College of the Siskiyou’s. Richard spent many years working in the trucking industry. He worked for Peter’s Truck lines , then Richard’s Truck Repair .He also owned Yreka Auto Parts. Richard also Served in Vietnam, where he was enlisted in the Army from 1967 to 1968. Richard received a Purple Heart with cluster for his Service.
In 1970 Richard married his wife Henrietta “Yet” ,in Yreka. Together they have three children , Tessie (Kenny King) ,Dena (Scott Finley) and Becky (Dan Chase) . Richard was also a brother to four siblings , Ted Peters of Yreka, Eric Peters of Montague, David Peters of Sweet, Idaho, and Barry Peters of Montague. Richard was also a beloved grandfather to seven , and great grandfather to eight. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Paige Hilken.
Richard’s world revolved around his family. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, all while keeping things simple. He enjoyed many pastimes from teaching mechanics, electrical, and plumbing to his grandson, to his love of hunting ducks, elk, deer and even geese. He was a life member of the NRA, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation , Ducks Unlimited as well as the American Legion.
