In a display of horsemanship and poise, young riders competed for the prestigious Scott Valley Pleasure Park (SVPP) Royalty title in the annual competition held this weekend. After impressive performances across multiple events, Riley Turner was crowned Queen and Trinity Spencer was named Princess for the 2025 season.
The Queen Run, a signature event of the competition, challenged contestants to maintain control while riding in a figure-eight pattern and engaging with spectators. Riders were judged on their horsemanship skills, presentation, and ability to represent the rodeo tradition with grace.
2025 Royalty Winners

Riley Turner, a 15-year-old sophomore from Mt. Shasta High School, earned the Queen title riding her horse Boomer. Turner’s athletic background includes being named MVP of her school’s volleyball team for the 2024 season and qualifying for State competition on the ski and snowboard team. She actively participates in the Shasta Cascade Riders club in Redding and balances her equestrian pursuits with U-20 soccer and various school clubs.

Trinity Spencer, a 16-year-old junior from Yreka High School, was named Princess after serving in the same role last year. Riding her horse Rocco, Spencer brought experience from her participation in the Trail Dust Saddle Club in Southern Oregon, where she finished the 2024 season as reserve champion. Outside the arena, Spencer is the pitcher for the Lady Miners softball team and volunteers as an assistant coach for elementary school volleyball.
