Obituary: Stephen James Jackson

Stephen “Owl Man” James Jackson
Sept. 18th, 1943 – Mar. 1st, 2025

Steve, aka “Owl Man,” passed on Mar. 1, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 18, 1943, in Portland, Maine, to Herbert Purcell Jackson and Lois Elizabeth Libby. Steve’s family moved to California in 1948, living in various communities and finally settling in Yreka, California, where he graduated from high school. Shortly after high school he moved to Colorado where he began his long career with IBM and Siemens. His career moved him back to California where he eventually retired. After retirement he moved to Eureka, CA, and then later to Bellevue, Washington. He will be most remembered for his love of owls and vast collection of owl collectibles. He will be fondly remembered by the wait staff at the various Bellevue-area Applebee’s (and other establishments) for his $2 bill tips embellished with playful holiday stickers. He is survived by his siblings Peter Jackson of Chico, CA, and Wendie Jackson of Tucson, AZ, and his ex-wife Lanh ‘Susie’ Hoyle of Campbell, CA.  His remains will be interred near his mother in South Portland, Maine.
