On March 6th, 2025 at approximately 4:52 p.m., members of the Siskiyou County Sheriffโs Office (SCSO) responded to a house in north Dunsmuir for a suspected home invasion. The homeowner had called 911 after she witnessed an elderly white male attempting to break the window of her home to gain entry. When the Deputies arrived minutes later, the subject had fled the scene, but the homeowner had managed to take photos and videos of the individual, providing a thorough description for law enforcement.
Additional units were called to begin patrolling Dunsmuir in search of the suspect, and soon thereafter, an individual fitting the exact description of the suspect was located in the front seat of a parked vehicle. The individual was identified by Deputies as Chad Robert Brisbon, age 53, of Dunsmuir, and placed under arrest.
Around this time, a second call came into SCSO Dispatch reporting a burglary on Masson Avenue. The homeowner had returned to his house to find $4,000 worth of property stolen, and his home ransacked. Fortunately, a camera on that same street had captured Brisbon entering the home through an unlocked side door, and the stolen property was promptly located in a trashcan that Brisbon identified for Deputies.
Brisbon was then charged for vandalism and attempted burglary of the Dunsmuir Avenue home, as well as burglary and grand theft on Masson Avenue, and booked in the Siskiyou County Jail.
