The Bureau of Land Management Has Misinformed Americans About Wild Horses & Burros

American wild horses and burros are federally protected by a Congressional Act signed by President Richard Nixon in 1971.

Since the passage of the Act, The Bureau of Land Management (‘BLM’) has systematically and shamelessly used American taxpayer dollars to crank-out garbage misinformation, pretending that it’s science. And sadly, many Americans have been fooled, including many elected officials.

The BLM has truly earned the name: ‘Bureau of Lies and Malfeasance’.

The BLM has been caught red-handed lying to Congress (in print) about wild horse ecology. Their fabrications about wild horses and their behavioral ecology and subsequent demonization of wild horses over the past many decades has resulted in what is now arguably the widespread abuse and costly mismanagement that wild horses suffer under BLM and USFS management, with American taxpayers footing the $200-Million/year bill for the BLM excrement show.

Here are a couple of many examples of criminal animal abuse caught on news-camera video of BLM contractors abusing Congressionally protected wild burros:

BLM contractor helicopter intentionally crashes into a fleeing burro (caption from YouTube video linked below)
Another BLM contractor beats an exhausted burro, dragging it by it’s ears and tail, striking and kicking it (See video link)

The BLM has been and is currently engaged in supporting the systemic dogma of willful ignorance and a campaign of misinforming the Congress of the United States and elected officials across America via their ongoing propagation of manifestly false statements, which they publish using tax-dollars, including but not limited to this whopper:

Wild horses have no natural predators …”  This is a false statement promoted by the BLM on page-1 paragraph 5 of their Report to the Congress of the United States:

That false statement appears in a so-called management plan that was presented to the Congress of The United States in writing titled; ‘Report To Congress – Management Options For A Sustainable Wild Horse And Burro Program’

Only a totally corrupted agency would propose to manage any resource starting with a lie.

The Truth about wild horses, as well as their predators is the exact opposite of the BLM falsely claims

Herein below is an excerpt from the abstract of a recent scientific study (2021) of the predation of wild horses:

“Diets of cougars in the Great Basin were composed predominantly of horses (59.6%, n = 460 prey items; 13 individuals). Ten cougars regularly consumed horses, and horses were the most abundant prey in the diet of 8 additional individuals in the Great Basin. Cougars on average killed 0.38 horses/week in the Great Basin (range=0.00–0.94 horses/week). Differences in predation on horses between the sexes of cougars were striking; Great Basin females incorporated more horses across all age classes year‐round, whereas male cougars tended to exploit neonatal young during spring and summer before switching to deer during winter.”

The BLM division charged with protecting American wild horses should be investigated and charged for these and other egregious crimes.

  1. Thank you for all of your dedication to truth and scientific facts! Our wild equids are in desperate need of better treatment and management, and I cannot think of anyone else better for that job than dedicated advocate William Simpson. From his decades long experience studying them in the wild, he knows about our wild horses and burros better than anyone else. So I’m hoping he is chosen to be our next BLM Director or BLM WHB Director to bring back some dignity and honesty to one of our most corrupt American government agencies.
VOTE for William Simpson at the Kennedy MAHA site!!

  2. Please vote for Mr Simpson! He is a kind, loving, and caring man for the protection of wild horses and wild burros!! There is a law on the books about protecting these animals and obviously stopping any abuse by man or helicopter!
Please vote for Mr William Simpson & save our wild horses & burros. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
