This is great... the more Americans (and Canadians) understand the value of ourย relativelyย *fewย remaining wild horses, the sooner we can act to benefit them by saving themย and humankind.ย *
Nationwide population estimate by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) = 58,952 total wild horses left in America, as of March 1, 2024 (on public lands there are 25 head of cattle to each wild horse 25 to 1).Download the full 2024 population estimate data set
The key problem is that 2/3 of these 59,000 (39,000) wild horses are stuffed into one state, Nevada!
Just for comparison, there are 95-million head of cattle (USDA) in America, and 7.5-million domestic horses (American Horse Council). Over 1.5-million head of cattle are on BLM managed public lands.
We can, with a little help, relocate most/all of these 59,000 horses into areas were they will not be in conflict with livestock grazing, and into areas choked with grass & brush that desperately need what these horses do best, reducing wildfire fuels (grass & brush). This is a smart, cost effective move that benefits ALL stakeholders and American wild horses!

Wild Horse Fire Brigade is working very hard, using first of its kind innovations with very limited funding to change the mismanagement of American wild horses.
We have been and are currently engaged in research, field study, education, rewilding, and rescue, and have done ALL these things! While other Orgs keep talking about it on their fancy websites.
