On Friday, August 23, at approximately 8:15 pm, a Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Sergeant conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 5 northbound. The vehicle, a silver Ford Explorer lacking both license plates, was pulled over.
The driver, identified as Jade Krystal Hobbs, 31, of Grants Pass, Oregon, admitted to recent methamphetamine use during questioning. Hobbs and her passenger, Alli Dawn Brandon, also 31 and from Grants Pass, claimed they were returning from a brief trip to Oakland, California, but were unable to provide a reason for their journey.
When asked about illegal items in the vehicle, Brandon disclosed the presence of a handgun under the driver’s seat, which was later found to be unregistered. This revelation prompted the Sergeant to detain both women and conduct a probable cause search of the vehicle.
The search uncovered various drug paraphernalia and bags containing crystalline substances, later confirmed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine. In total, 153.6 grams of fentanyl and 20 grams of methamphetamine were seized from the vehicle.
Hobbs was arrested on charges of driving while addicted to drugs, transportation of illegal drugs, and possession of illegal drugs for sale. Brandon faces charges of possession of illegal drug paraphernalia, transportation of illegal drugs, and possession of illegal drugs for sale.
Following their arrests, both women were transported to and booked into the Siskiyou County Jail.
