“A Country Fair with a Golden Flare” Fair in 2024

The county seat of Siskiyou County recently hosted the much-anticipated Siskiyou Golden Fair from August 7 to August 11, 2024. This year’s theme, “A Country Fair with a Golden Flare,” delivered a vibrant celebration of rural life and community spirit at the Siskiyou Golden Fairgrounds.

The Siskiyou Golden Fair 2024 proved to be a golden opportunity to celebrate the best of country living. For five days, the fairgrounds buzzed with activity as participants, local residents, and visitors to Yreka came together to enjoy the festivities.

The fair offered a diverse array of attractions and events that catered to all ages and interests

The actions are always a fair time favorite, supporting our 4H clubs and Future Farmers of America to name a few. Some of the fine animals are raised and including wood and metal shop projects are auctioned off raising money for our youths future endeavors.

Shelby Martin from the Etna 4H Club pictured below (center) created a shed chandelier for the auction. Shelby said it only took her four days to put the project together, gathering all the drop horns is what took a long time to gather.

Ginger Moyles won the winning bid after a heavy round of bidding, Shelby work sold for 3400 dollars.

The Sisq Bee Clubs bee garden was fulls of blooms attracting many honey bee and other insects that like the sweet scent of flower blossoms. Just one of the many clubs that had booths and exhibits at the Siskiyou Golden Fair.

Bee Club member Maggie Nielsen talked about raising queen bees. With a stroke of genius and a little research Maggie can up the idea of using an egg incubator to try and raise a queen bee. To date Maggie has raised 15 queen honey bees to start new colonies of pollinators.

The Siskiyou Veterans Assistance club has delivered 95 cords of firewood so far this year and still cutting, stacking, and ensuring veterans have the fuel they need for our long winters ahead.

The fair featured an impressive variety of still exhibits, showcasing the community’s creativity and exhibits offered a perfect opportunity for local artisans and hobbyists to display their talents.
