Attention Siskiyou County Residents: Cyclists Coming to Our Roads
From June 22-29, 2024, Siskiyou County will host the “Spirit of Shasta” cycling event. Hundreds of cyclists will be exploring our beautiful region, from the Klamath River to Mount Shasta.
We urge all drivers to be extra vigilant during this week:
- Watch for cyclists, especially on rural roads
- Give cyclists at least 3 feet of space when passing
- Be patient and pass only when it’s safe
- Be cautious on winding roads with limited visibility
Cyclists will be most numerous in areas around Happy Camp, Etna, Weed, and Yreka. They’ll also be on routes along the Klamath and Scott Rivers, in Scott Valley, and on Mount Shasta.
Let’s work together to ensure the safety of both our visitors and local residents. Your awareness can prevent accidents and make this event a success for our community.
Remember: Share the road and stay alert!
