Splash & Dash Makes a Splash for Veterans on Memorial Day

Yreka, CA – Local car wash Splash & Dash showed its support for veterans this past Memorial Day, May 27th, 2024, with a special event dedicated to giving back. Owner John Richter pledged $3 from every wash to be split evenly amongst three local veterans’ organizations: Siskiyou County Veteran Services, the American Legion, and the Veterans Assistance Program.

The event saw a strong turnout, representatives from each organization met up at the Evergreen Veterans Cemetery Memorial area to accept the donations. Bob Singleton and Jerry Johnson of American Legion Post #122, Mark Dean of the Veterans Leadership Council, and Richard Shaffer, president of the Veteran Assistance Program, were all in attendance. In a heartwarming gesture of solidarity, Mark Dean, the Veterans Leadership Council donated their share of the proceeds, an adding $250, to the American Legions $250.

Richard Shaffer, the president of the Veteran Assistance Program, expressed his gratitude for Splash & Dash’s generosity. The Veteran Assistance Program focuses on assistance, support, and opportunities to veterans in need, helping them overcome challenges and build stable, fulfilling lives.

“It was a great opportunity to give back and show our appreciation for the sacrifices made by our veterans,” stated Richter. The Memorial Day car wash was a unique way to engage the community in supporting those who have served, proving that a clean car can contribute to a worthy cause.
