Spike in DUI Arrests to Close Out 2023 in Siskiyou County

The following Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Department ARREST, BOOKINGS Report Contains:
individuals who are innocent, until the State proves them guilty. 
Please respect their fundamental human and legal rights.

YREKA, CA – Siskiyou County law enforcement agencies reported a high number of DUI arrests occurring in the final days of December 2023. At least six separate DUI arrests were made from December 31st to January 1st alone.

The flurry of arrests on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day were conducted by agencies like the California Highway Patrol, Yreka Police Department, and Weed Police Department. Many of those taken into custody faced additional charges beyond DUIs, including drug possession, driving with a suspended license, and hit and runs.

In some cases very high bail amounts assigned to suspects reflected the severity of other crimes tied to the DUI charges. One Weed man was booked on multiple felony warrants totaling over $150,000 in bail while he also faces fresh DUI charges from a New Year’s Eve arrest.
