Obituary

Alan Roy Meyers was born April 11, 1957 in Yreka, California. He lived in many places throughout his life including Sacramento, Santa Cruz, and Southern Oregon. He spent the last 35 years in Yreka where he passed on September 7, 2023. He is the firstborn child and only son of LeRoy and Nancy Meyers.

Alan graduated from Yreka High School in 1975. He was interested in history, science, and had a deep appreciation for the natural world. He had a warm, compassionate soul. He especially loved animals. He saved and raised several abandoned baby birds and squirrels. He had many dogs and cats throughout his life that he loved very much. As a young adult he climbed Mt. Shasta with his lifelong friend, Larry West. It was an adventure that he cherished.

Alan was preceded in death by his partner and love of his life, Carole Hicks.

He leaves behind his father LeRoy, who was his best friend, his mother Nancy, with whom he shared a special bond, and his three adoring sisters, LeAnn, Mary Lou, and Susan. Although he faced many trials throughout his life, he loved and cared deeply for others and was much beloved by his friends and family.

He will be greatly missed.
