Longtime Happy Camp resident, Kenneth H. Jacobsen, Jr.(Kenny), passed away peacefully on January 3, 2023 at Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka. He was 79 year old.

Kenny was born on September 8, 1943 in Eureka, CA, to Kenneth Sr. and Geraldine (Hashberger) Jacobsen. Kenny married Leonie Dalton on August 21, 1971, and the couple made their home in Happy Camp. For nearly 30 years, Kenny worked in the local lumber mills as a heavy equipment operator and 15 years with Siskiyou County Road Dept. Kenny and Leonie raised their daughters, Connie and Leanne, in Happy Camp, and the family was a staple of the community.

Kenny served in the United States Army from 1967-1969, receiving several awards and commendations, including Marksmanship. He had many interests and hobbies, including classic muscle cars (Chevy’s only – no Fords were allowed on his property!), working on cars, woodworking and tinkering in his garage. He was well known for, and proud of, his Christmas light displays, and won many awards in the Happy Camp Lioness Christmas Light Contests over the years. He also greatly enjoyed lawn mower racing by supporting his grandson Garrett in his own mower racing career. No matter what his endeavor, Kenny was meticulous and vigilant in his pursuit.

Kenny is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leonie; his daughters Connie (Ronald) Whitman of Weaverville and Leanne (Geoffrey) Jacobsen-Rhea of Medford; brothers Myrl (Diane) and Rod (Susie) Jacobsen; sisters Judy (J.J.) Mason and Ruth (John) Bain; seven grandchildren (Brittany, Courtney, Garrett, Alyssa, Wyatt, Kaylee, and Luke), 2 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He joins his eighth grandchild, Kenneth John-Ross, and the two of them will tinker and race lawnmowers and muscle cars into the wild blue yonder.

Services will be planned for a later date.
