No Shortage Of Entertainment In Siskiyou This First Weekend Of October

Wow, the summer of 2022 is coming to a close and many great oppertunities have landed on this weekend. So here is a brief list and locations with some information so you can stay connected, stay informed.

Maybe Lotta Crabtree, who captivated the Miner Street saloons and other Gold Rush towns in the mid-1800s. She loved Yreka and is frequently seen prowling downtown, wearing her long, flowing dress, very very late at night and wouldn't miss a chance to sing one of her famous songs–if the crowd might be interested.

Siskiyou Historic Tours ~ Ghost Tour

Yreka

7:00PM Meet in front of the Elks Club Building, corner of Miner and Oregon Street, to see all of the other ghosts that might turn out.


Please wear an appropriate costume and bring a light.


This tour is sponsored by the Sisk. Co. Hist. Soc., which requests a $5 donation for insurance.

Friends of the Museum presenting Family Fun Day. Smokey The Bear, YHS Guitar Group, Yreka Fire Dept. Antique fire truck, Back Country Horseman, Officer Shawn Gordon will once again be demonstrating his blacksmithing skills.

4:00PM Siskiyou Historic Tour ~ Evergreen Cemetery

Yreka, CA

Drive to the end of Evergreen St. and park in the center of of the cemetery. We will talk about cemeteries through the ages, tombstone symbolism, fascinating Siskiyou people buried here and much much more!

Siskiyou Historic Tours ~ St. Joseph's Cemetery

4:00PM


Drive to the end of E. Miner St. and park near the entrance gate.


Being a Catholic cemetery there are many difference between it and Protestant cemeteries (such as Evergreen).


The Irish, Italian and Portuguese cultures brought many interesting aspects to American life, including burial practices.


The Sisk. Co. Hist. Soc. sponsors these tours and requests a $5 donation. Hope to see you at these tours!
