*Current Klamath National Forest Lightning Fires*

In addition to the #McKinneyFire and #China2Fire, there are 10 fires burning on the Klamath National Forest.


Two of the fires are on the Happy Camp/Oak Knoll District:

-The Blue Fire is 5 miles south of Seiad on Walker Ridge and is in a burn scar from 2014. The fire was tamped down by a tanker drop and ground resources are working their way in.

-The Slinkard Fire is 4 miles southeast of Seiad, near O’Neil Creek. It is .1 acre and crews are working their way in.

-An additional fire has been identified north of the #McKinneyFire. The Alex Fire has been absorbed by Interagency Incident Management Team 10 and is in the area of Alex Hole. The Alex Fire is roughly 4 miles south of the Oregon border and has resources from the Rogue River Siskiyou National Forest assigned.

The Salmon/Scott District has eight fires:

-The Lovers Fire is up from Lovers Camp, near Deep Lake, and is about .5 acres in size. As of 8 PM last night, it had line around it. It is staffed by 7 smokejumpers.

-The Yellow Fire is .1 acres near Lake Mountain Lookout. It has been lined, mopped up, and is in patrol status.

-The Kelsey Fire is 10-15 acres and has current evacuation orders in place. Structures are in the area and evacuation orders are in place. Numerous resources are on scene and more continue to arrive. CAL FIRE is assisting with this effort.

-The Eddie Fire is .2 acres with 1 engine one scene. It received precipitation last night and is near Eddie Gulch Lookout.

-The Gulch Fire, also near Eddie Gulch Lookout, is .1 acre. Resources are on scene.

-The McNeil Fire is 2 miles south of Forks of Salmon, near McNeil Creek. It is .5 acres and 90% lined. The line held overnight and resources remain on scene.

-2 additional fires are on the Salmon/Scott Ranger District but are being managed by the Six Rivers National Forest. They are close to each other near the North Fork of Wooley Creek near Dad’s Pocket. Smokejumpers and a hotshot crew are assigned.
