Former City of Etna Mayor Diana Lynne Callahan, 79, of Etna, passed away April 19, 2022 at Fairchild Medical Center in Yreka from pneumonia. Diana was born in Denver, Colo. on July 23, 1942 to mother Minerva Gertrude Wilson and father William Earl Hodges.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother Dennis Spain and great grandson.

Diana is survived by daughters Tammi Callahan and Tanya Callahan, grandchildren Trinity, Ozziellya and Montana, as well as three great-grandchildren.


Diana was well known in the community for many of her talents, abilities, vocations and community service. She was the mayor and city councilwoman for the City of Etna, She was a cosmetologist, award-winning artist, art instructor at College of the Siskiyous and taught children and adults at her home studio. She was a dog groomer, cook, bowler and activist for passionate causes she cared about.

She founded the senior lunch program in Greenview.

A celebration of life for Diana is set at Scott Valley Berean Church on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. Pastor Drew Travis will be officiating.

Arrangements are handled by Neptune Society of Northern California in Chico.
