McCloud Market: Where Community and Commerce Thrive

Since 1971, the McCloud Market has been a cornerstone of the McCloud community. The DeBon family took ownership after the McCloud Lumber Mill sold, with Reno and Amber DeBon stepping into leadership roles in 2011. Today, with a staff of 15, the market does more than keep the people of McCloud fed โ€“ it nurtures the very fabric of the town.

The marketโ€™s commitment to its customers goes beyond simply stocking shelves. Management and staff alike cater to individual needs, often sourcing specialized items upon request. Their community involvement is equally impressive: sponsoring local events, donating surplus produce to area farms, and providing unwavering support for McCloudโ€™s sports teams and school programs. Most recently, they contributed all their ice to the local Beer and Wine Festival, exemplifying their dedication to community events.

To gauge the marketโ€™s impact, we conducted an informal survey of shoppers. The responses paint a picture of a beloved local institution:

  • I always feel at ease when I shop at the Mccloud market, with helpful staff like Amber in produce and Peter and Mr. Johnson in the meat department who always cater to my specific preferences because they understand I can be choosy.
