Ida (Jerry) Quimayousie was born on March 24, 1942, in Fort Jones, California. She passed away on July 13, 2026, in Yreka surrounded by her children and grandchildren in her home.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and relative who touched many lives. She gave birth to five children: Letha Jerry, Johnny Jerry, Pamela Baker, John William Jerry, and Gerald Spannaus. She also lovingly adopted many into her life, including Tommy Vandunk and Mike Vandunk.
She was a proud grandmother to many grandchildren: Gabrial Montgomery, Jolena Jerry, Justine Jerry, Julius Baker, Johnny Jerry Jr. (Bud), Shereena Baker, Gerald Spannaus (Bubbs), Samantha Barragan, Janessa Cardenas, Jordan Spannaus, Tayla Spannaus, Lydia Jerry, Lenayah Spannaus, Jeriah Spannaus, and Rhema Spannaus. Numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, smoke buddies, and all her men.
Ida was never short of a good laugh. She never missed the chance to make someone’s day by saying or doing something crazy just to get them to smile. Ida was not shy or afraid to make a man blush. If they asked her how she was feeling… she would open her arms and say, “Well, feel.” She likes having a good session with games like 10,000, Phase 10, or going to the casino. She loved hearing NDN songs – she loved going to the brush dances to hear them when she could, or listening to powwow songs at home on her iPad. She had a habit of collecting things: free things, thrifted things, nature things…things things! She had so many friends and enjoyed spending time with them. She was the type to help anyone in need. She would take the shirt off her back or make someone close to her take their shirt off just to help another. She loved all types of music and would go to concerts with her kids and grandkids. Her favorite was Reggae on the River, and I think you know why!
She is preceded in death by: parents, Geneva Thom and John Jerry Sr, Siblings: Anthony (Tony) Jerry, Shirley Jerry, and son John William.
Services will be held on Saturday July 18th at 10:00 a.m. at Quartz Valley Cemetery, with a Celebration of Life Reception to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Karuk Wellness Center.
